From the streets of Brooklyn, Tara Feather has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. A rapper, beat maker, and songwriter, Tara’s journey into music was sparked during her childhood. She vividly recalls the days when she would listen to the radio, capturing her favorite DJ mixes on cassette tapes just to savor the music she loved. Her passion didn’t stop there—Tara would do the same with music videos, watching them repeatedly to memorize the lyrics and dance moves.
“My fascination with music led me to delve into performance arts,” Tara reflects. “I was shy, so I kept my passion a secret, enjoying it as a hobby at home. But one day, I decided to let go of my fear because I realized you only live once. I knew I had to show the world what I could do.”
Tara’s love for music and her desire to see the joy it brings to others motivated her to pursue a career in the industry. “It’s mind-blowing to see people around the world vibing to my beats and lyrics,” she says. “There were people who told me I shouldn’t do music because I sucked, but that only fueled my determination to grow.”
Despite the challenges, Tara stays true to herself. “I take my own advice and opinion about my music seriously. I don’t let others’ opinions sway me because that would change who I am. I want to stand firm in my character as an independent artist and push myself even harder.”
Tara’s musical influences are as diverse as they are legendary, ranging from Tupac and Cam’ron to Beyoncé, Adele, Vybz Kartel, and Drake. “I could go on for days,” she admits, listing artists like Lil Wayne, Prince, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, Sean Paul, Big Daddy Kane, the Jackson 5, Sister Nancy, G-Unit, Big Tymers, and Aidonia.
Her songwriting process is a unique one. “It’s literally a jungle,” she laughs. “I make my own beats, which makes life easier. I either create a beat and write to it, or I write first and then find a beat that matches. Some of my older songs came from piles of poetry I wrote before I started rapping.”
Tara’s inspiration comes from her own life experiences, her observations, and even fictional stories she creates to resonate with others. “I grew up writing poetry, and to me, rap feels like the same thing. Sometimes, I write stories in my poetry to capture the emotions of someone who might have gone through something similar, hoping to encourage them.”
Tara Feather is more than just an artist; she’s a storyteller, a beat maker, and a performer who uses her music to connect with people on a deeper level. Her journey is a testament to the power of passion, resilience, and staying true to oneself in the face of adversity. As she continues to evolve in her career, there’s no doubt that Tara will keep turning her passion into power, inspiring others to do the same.
