Q’Bri, a rising music artist born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, has been intertwined with music from a very young age. Her journey began at just eight years old when she joined a “kitty” music group called “Say What?” alongside two of her friends. Even back then, her creative spirit shone brightly as she penned simple songs, one of which was called “Let it Rain.” While music was a fun outlet during her early years, it wasn’t something she pursued seriously at first. However, it was always in her blood.
Coming from a musically inclined family, Q’Bri was surrounded by the sounds of melodies and harmonies throughout her upbringing. Her grandmother and her 12 siblings were all talented singers, often pursued by others to perform. They even had the chance to break into the music industry but ultimately chose not to. This rich musical heritage undeniably played a role in shaping Q’Bri’s passion for music, even if it wasn’t her initial career path.
As she matured, so did her musical influences. While gospel and R&B were the genres that initially shaped her sound, Q’Bri later found inspiration in hip-hop legends like Biggie and Tupac. She admires Biggie’s flow and style, elements that have subtly woven their way into her own music.
Q’Bri’s creative process is deeply connected to the beats she works with. “I honestly have to either make a beat or get a beat in order for me to actually write a song,” she shares. “I have to feel the vibe of the beat to actually create the words.” This connection to rhythm and melody is what fuels her songwriting, allowing her to craft lyrics that resonate with her audience. Her music, which she describes as a blend of Christian rap, hip-hop, and R&B, carries messages of positivity and hope.
In a world where many face challenges and hardships, Q’Bri aims to uplift and inspire through her songs. She wants her music to be a beacon of light for those who may be feeling discouraged or lost. “I want my messages in my music to be positive. I want it to be like if someone feels so discouraged in life and just wanna end it all or whatnot, and they hear my song on the radio, after listening to it, it would change their perspective on life in a positive way.”
Over time, Q’Bri’s music has evolved significantly. Reflecting on her early work, she acknowledges the learning curve she faced. Her first song, “Thick & Thin,” had a good flow, but the recording quality wasn’t up to par. “I used too much autotune because I wasn’t comfortable with my natural voice,” she admits. However, as she gained confidence in her vocal abilities, her music improved. Now, Q’Bri embraces her unique sound and continues to grow as an artist, learning and improving with each new project.
Q’Bri’s journey is one of passion, perseverance, and self-discovery. As she continues to hone her craft, her music remains a powerful tool for spreading positivity and encouraging others to keep pushing forward, no matter what challenges they face. With each beat and lyric, Q’Bri is not just making music; she’s making a difference.
Much success to you on your rap career!
