Party Nails is a multidimensional artist whose musical releases are as diverse as the city she resides in, Los Angeles. Her latest offering is the dark synth pop track “Trigger Warning”, which is a highlight off of her newly minted album Pillow Talk.
“Trigger Warning” begins with a steady moody beat as electric zap infused synths soon collide and Party Nail’s textured vocals enter. Musically the song has an emotive undertone with a sparkly dreamlike essence. Party Nails is imaginative in her production to where the song feels both familiar yet fresh at the same time.
The producer, songwriter, singer and musician also just shared the video for “Trigger Warning” and it is as intriguing as the song. Directed by Elinor Howells, the official video shows Party Nails racing through a riverbed trying to find her way. The poignant imagery mirrors the inner confusion and uncertainty she feels but soon connection and love is all around her. She shares, “Trigger Warning” is a song that encapsulates isolation and moving out of isolation, so we wanted to have the damsel character move from a chaotic state, of running and fear and confusion, to one of beauty, connection and joy. With Quinn Thomashow as DP and Estrello Lo on mixed media and editing, Elinor masterfully infused the gritty street art of eastern Los Angeles with Estrella’s dreamy flowers and textures to create a dream-like world. Our damsel is rescued by my real-life friends, Fake Dad (check out their music!), queer angels who bring her to a nightclub in Heaven. Together they dance, surrounded by love and freedom of expression.”
