For Buddybudski, music isn’t just a passion—it’s the blueprint of his life. While many artists say they’ve “always loved music,” for Buddy, that love has been tangible since childhood—first through rhythm, then melody, and now expression.
The Real Beginning
Although music has always played a role in his life—from banging on drums at age 11 to exploring the piano between 13 and 15—it wasn’t until the final month of high school that things clicked. As graduation approached, Buddy was deep in the process of writing his first EP, MBA. That was June 2023. That’s when the dream became the plan.
“I always circled back to music. No matter how many times I stepped away or felt like quitting, I came back. That’s when I realized—this isn’t a hobby. This is what I’m meant to do,” he reflects.
By November 17th, 2023, MBA officially dropped—marking not just a debut, but a declaration.
Early Influences & Musical Roots
Buddybudski’s sound is unique, but his roots are familiar. “Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande were my earliest influences,” he shares. “I remember being in third grade, on my tablet, watching a mashup of them singing Grenade. I loved it so much.”
That love for music only grew deeper with time. The blend of pop, soul, and pure emotion from artists like Bruno and Ariana helped shape Buddy’s sonic palette—one that today leans heavily into nostalgia and emotion-driven production.
What’s in a Name?
“Buddybudski” isn’t just a stage name—it’s a family nickname with layers of love behind it. “My dad’s been calling me that since I was little,” he says with a smile. “‘Buddy’ is because of my kind personality, the energy I give to people. ‘Bud’ adds to that, and the ‘ski’ part comes from my uncle Ski—my dad’s brother—because apparently I talk and look just like him.”
It’s a name full of meaning, and much like his music, it’s deeply personal.
Writing With Feeling, Producing With Vision
When it comes to songwriting, Buddy’s inspiration is raw and immediate. “It’s really just how I’m feeling in that moment,” he explains. “Sometimes I’ll walk around, look at stuff, watch TV, eat… just live life. Little things spark ideas—melodies just pop into my head.”
His production process works the same way—intuitive and deeply in tune with his emotions. Whether it’s an idea that lingers in his head for weeks or a vibe he chases on YouTube, Buddy always circles back to one core feeling: nostalgia.
“I always aim for nostalgic, 2010s-sounding production. Nostalgia wins every time.”
The Creative Process, Start to Finish
Buddy’s process is a mix of inspiration and execution. After weeks of sitting on an idea, he starts hunting for the perfect beat—either on YouTube or with his trusted producer, @cloak._. Once the beat hits, he hums melodies, starts writing, and typically finishes a full song in 20–30 minutes.
“Finding the beat might take up to two hours, but once I have it, everything flows,” he says.
Latest Projects: SoundCloud Success & Meaningful Collaborations
One of Buddy’s biggest moments in 2024 came with the release of “GLORY (MEGA-MIX),” a remix of his original track GLORY, featuring @immature_jayden, @purppgut, and @iammonteofficial.
The track is a lyrical deep dive into identity, love, and mental health. “Every verse on that song hits the heart and soul,” Buddy says. “I talk about my struggles. Jayden talks about his girl, and it’s so beautiful. It hits me because I know that kind of love. Purpp opens up about mental battles. Monte tells his story, bar for bar, for four minutes straight.”
This track is more than a remix—it’s a statement.
Alongside that, Buddy dropped an exclusive mixtape “BoyBarbie World” in July, hosted by @shmoneyexclusives. Released only on SoundCloud, the tape racked up over 6,000 streams—a major milestone for an independent artist. “It was insane,” he recalls. “And I even dropped exclusive remixes of songs from that tape too.”
Facing Challenges, Learning Patience
Like any artist, Buddy has had to learn that not everything goes according to plan. Whether it’s a delay in a drop or a creative idea not turning out how he envisioned, the biggest lesson has been patience.
“I had to adjust my expectations and be more patient,” he says. “That was vital.”
