For Unleashthekid, music wasn’t part of the plan — at least not at first. As a kid, he loved music like anyone else, but the idea of becoming a musician wasn’t even on his radar. That all changed in 7th grade, around age 11, when he began making music for the first time. And from that moment on, something shifted.
“I started creating, not because I thought it would be my future — but because it felt right. And once I started, I didn’t stop.”
Growing up, his ears were drawn to a wide range of artists — Kendrick Lamar’s introspection, Tyga’s energy, Twenty One Pilots’ emotional depth, and the lyrical sharpness of South African heavyweights like Nasty C and A-Reece. Each one left a mark, shaping the unique blend of sound and storytelling that would later become his own.
A Choice That Lit a Fire
After graduating high school in 2023, he was faced with a familiar crossroads: follow the path laid out by others, or step into the unknown and chase what truly moved him.
“I chose me. I chose what I love. That’s when a light was born inside me — and now, all I do is keep it glowing.”
That decision gave birth to a new wave of creativity. By 2024, he was recording his own music — capturing the essence of who he was, despite the odds.
“It looked promising even when the odds were low. And that’s how I knew it was real.”
More Than a Name: Unleashthekid
His stage name isn’t just something catchy — it’s a personal mission.
“Unleashthekid is a story in itself. ‘Unleash’ is about freedom. ‘The kid’ is me — and anyone who’s ever felt boxed in by the world’s expectations. Together, it means free the kid.”
It’s a statement about identity. About growing up in a world that tries to define you, and choosing instead to define yourself. The name gives him power. Purpose. And above all, freedom.

When it comes to his music, Unleashthekid doesn’t force it. He lets the ideas come naturally — pulling from motivation, innovation, and the emotion in everyday life.
“Short stories live in my rhymes. Whether it’s about breaking limits or staying true to yourself, I’m inspired by the things that push us forward.”
