From Prince George’s County, Maryland, Tahirah has been building her musical voice since the age of 10 — bow in hand, vision in heart.
Her journey with the violin began early, but what kept her committed was the instrument’s versatility. For Tahirah, the violin is not limited to one sound or genre. It is a dynamic voice capable of endless articulation. She loves the way she can shift techniques to create completely different textures — bowing with power, plucking strings in pizzicato, bouncing notes in spiccato, delivering sharp staccato phrases, or drawing out emotional legato lines. Each technique becomes a different shade of expression.
Musically, she gravitates toward what moves her. Catchy hip-hop. Smooth R&B. Vibrant pop. If it feels good to her ears, she finds a way to reinterpret it through strings. Her covers are not simply instrumentals — they are reimaginings. When she performs hip-hop, she injects energy and swagger. With R&B, she leans into emotion and unexpected melodic twists. Across all genres, she aims to tell a story — to make the violin feel alive, modern, and deeply expressive.
Her influences reflect that genre-bending approach. German violinist Akim Camara inspired her to first pick up the instrument, showing her what was possible at a young age. Later, Grammy Award–winning hip-hop violinist Miri Ben-Ari became a major inspiration, especially in blending classical technique with urban rhythm and improvisation. Seeing someone confidently fuse genres expanded her perspective on what a violinist could be.
One of the most unforgettable moments of her career came when she performed on stage with Toni Braxton. Watching a legend perform live was surreal — but sharing the stage with her and speaking backstage afterward elevated the experience even more. What made it even more meaningful was having her entire family in the audience, including her grandmother. That night was more than a performance — it was validation. It was what she calls a “concert high” on another level.
Tahirah acknowledges that her path has not always been easy. As one of the few violinists in certain spaces, she has often felt misunderstood. Many people do not see the hours of practice, the discipline, or the emotional investment behind the scenes. The journey can feel isolating at times. But those very challenges have shaped her resilience and strengthened her identity as a musician. The solitude sharpened her focus. The doubt fueled her drive.
Her proudest accomplishments extend beyond stages and applause. Music has taught her patience, discipline, and resilience. Working with clients has strengthened her customer service and strategic problem solving— balancing creative vision with practical execution. Recording her own music has taught her independence, courage, and initiative. She understands now that her greatest achievements are not only in the notes she plays, but in the confidence, adaptability, and personal growth that come with them.
Looking ahead, Tahirah’s vision is expansive.
She wants her violin to be a passport.
Her long-term goal is to travel the world through music — organizing tours, performing at private events, collaborating with artists who share her creative energy, and connecting with diverse audiences globally. For her, the violin is more than an instrument. It is a bridge across cultures and experiences.
Traveling and collaborating will allow her to continue evolving artistically. Each city, each audience, each collaboration becomes inspiration. She wants the freedom to experiment with new sounds, fuse genres, and push creative boundaries without limits.
Ultimately, Tahirah’s goal is to build a career that allows her to be fully expressive — where her violin becomes a vehicle for innovation, storytelling, and global connection.
Because when it comes to creativity and music, she believes there are no ceilings.
Only horizons waiting to be explored.
