Jasmine J.R. Tilman is a creator who turned adversity into purpose and imagination into impact. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, and now based in Atlanta since 2022, she has stepped into her calling as a multi-award-winning author, production coordinator, screenwriter, and emerging director. Her work is rooted in evolution—constantly pushing boundaries while creating spaces where others can explore their own creativity through storytelling, film, and community-driven events.
Her journey with writing began in childhood, but it wasn’t until 2022 that she fully committed to her career. Growing up in a middle-class household with a hardworking single mother, Jasmine had everything she needed, but found herself influenced by the wrong environments due to a lack of guidance at times. That contrast between stability and outside influence shaped her perspective and fueled her imagination. Writing became her escape, a way to build worlds beyond her surroundings and express the depth of her thoughts.
At the core of her ambition has always been family. Providing a better life for them has been her driving force, but her love for storytelling runs just as deep. Movies and television once gave her a place to escape, and now she is determined to create that same feeling for others. Her vision is to build experiences that allow people to step into new worlds, feel seen, and find inspiration through her work.
Jasmine describes herself as layered, passionate, and genuine. She leads with authenticity, valuing real connections and loyalty. That same energy flows into her creative work, making everything she touches feel intentional and personal. Her ability to understand different perspectives allows her to create stories that resonate with a wide audience.
Her journey has not been easy. She has faced instability, from house-hopping in her hometown to taking a leap of faith by moving to Georgia. More recently, she endured one of her most difficult moments—losing her job, experiencing heartbreak, and nearly losing her home and car all at once. Yet, through every setback, she has found a way to rebuild. Those experiences didn’t break her—they revealed her strength and pushed her to fully embrace who she is meant to be.
One of her proudest accomplishments is her growth in self-awareness. Coming from a background where others’ opinions often carried weight, she has learned to release that pressure and stand firmly in her own identity. She now understands that people will always have their own perspectives, and true freedom comes from allowing others to be who they are while remaining true to yourself.
Her message is rooted in acceptance and individuality. She encourages people to stop trying to change others and instead respect where they are in their journey. Everyone sees the world differently, and that diversity in perspective is what makes life meaningful. Through her work, she hopes to inspire others to embrace themselves fully without fear or limitation.
What keeps her motivated is purpose. She is driven by the desire to become the greatest version of herself and to uplift her family along the way. Being a source of light for those around her is something she takes seriously, and it continues to push her forward no matter the obstacles.
Currently, Jasmine is working on coordinating the “I’m Still an Author ATL” book tour, leading up to the release of her second book, DEVINE: Devotions of a Boss. This next chapter represents both growth and expansion, not only for her as an author but for the community she is building around her work.
Looking ahead, her goals extend far beyond books. She plans to transition her stories into television and film, creating larger platforms for her ideas to live and evolve. Her vision includes building opportunities for authors, filmmakers, and entrepreneurs to grow collectively, turning creativity into a movement.
