Racq Lee Is Turning Film, Music, and Media Into a Blueprint for the Next Generation

Racq Lee is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Philadelphia and currently based in the DMV area, whose work stretches across television, film, music, and media. As a filmmaker, writer, actor, model, singer-songwriter, rapper, and record producer, Racq creates from a place of authenticity, using art to reflect personal truth, community, culture, and the lived experiences of Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Racq’s creative journey began long before professional titles, credits, and platforms became part of the story. Creativity was present early, starting with a love for singing around the house and dreaming of becoming an actor while watching favorite shows on Nickelodeon and Disney. Even at a young age, there was already a clear desire to perform, express, and create. Racq began playing piano at age five, and by twelve, that curiosity had expanded into teaching themself how to program drums and create beats using Mixcraft and FL Studio. What started as childhood imagination slowly became the foundation for a career built across multiple creative lanes.

That foundation grew stronger when Racq’s mother enrolled them in a local nonprofit creative arts program in Philadelphia. Through that experience, Racq was able to explore musical theatre, drama, stage performance, modeling, dance, and fashion. Those early spaces gave Racq room to discover the many sides of their creativity and understand that artistry did not have to be limited to one form. By the age of fourteen, Racq was invited by Temple University to participate in a summer program with a production company, where they became the youngest lead actor, co-writer, co-director, and composer among a group of college students. That moment reflected not only talent, but the kind of creative discipline and vision that would continue to shape their journey.

Today, Racq’s work carries the depth of someone who understands the power of art beyond visibility. Their creative path is not only about being seen, heard, or recognized. It is about connection, healing, and community. Racq realized that their art could impact others in a meaningful way, creating space for people to feel understood and represented. That understanding continues to motivate them because they see their gifts as something meant to be shared, not hidden away. Their work becomes a bridge between personal truth and collective experience.

As a creative, Racq describes their identity as authentic. That authenticity shows up in the stories they choose to tell and the communities they choose to honor. Through film, music, acting, writing, and production, Racq reflects experiences connected to Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ life, while also highlighting culture, humanity, and truth. Their work does not feel built around imitation or approval. It comes from lived experience, observation, and the belief that real stories deserve real space.

Racq’s career has already reached notable platforms, with work featured by BET, TUBI, GLAAD, Overtime Sports, and more. Still, the journey has also brought lessons about vision, trust, and discernment. One of the challenges Racq has faced is learning when to trust their vision and when to reassess a plan for stronger execution. That balance is important for any artist building a professional career, especially when the work carries emotional and cultural weight. Racq has also learned that not everyone is meant to move with you into every space. Understanding who belongs in their circle, when to keep interactions brief, and how to protect their creative energy has become part of their growth within the industry.

One of Racq’s proudest accomplishments so far came during the 2026 DC 48 Hour Film Project, where they won their first award as a Supervising Music Editor, Film Composer, and Actor for a film created in collaboration with an organization called The Girl in the Script. That achievement represents more than a trophy or title. It reflects the range of Racq’s artistry and the ability to contribute to a project from multiple creative angles. Whether shaping sound, composing music, acting on screen, or helping guide the emotional tone of a film, Racq continues to prove that multidisciplinary work can be both powerful and necessary.

The message Racq wants to leave through their work is rooted in authenticity. To Racq, success is not defined by likes, comments, views, or a verification badge. It is defined by honest, raw, and genuine identity. That belief challenges the pressure many creatives feel to measure their worth through public numbers and online validation. Racq’s message reminds others that the true essence of power comes from embracing who you are and creating from a place that cannot be manufactured.

What keeps Racq motivated is their younger self, their community, and God. That foundation gives their work a deeper purpose because Racq sees art as something meant to reach beyond the present moment. It is not supposed to sit on a hard drive forever. It is meant to become a blueprint for the next generation of multidisciplinary artists. Racq’s journey shows young creatives that they do not have to choose only one path if their gifts exist in many forms. Film, music, writing, acting, production, and performance can all live together when the vision is clear and the work is rooted in purpose.

Currently, Racq is working on a film project in the DMV called “TASTE,” a modern-day Black queer romance centered around two women, Taye and Simone, who are set up on a blind date disguised as a food delivery. Inspired by films like Love Jones, The Photograph, and Rye Lane, the project reflects post-college life, romance, vulnerability, and the beauty of telling Black queer stories with care. Racq serves as the Writer and Executive Producer while also playing the main protagonist, Taye, making the project another example of their ability to create, lead, and perform within the same artistic world.

Connected to the project is the initiative “Open the Damn Door,” which invites people to share their most vulnerable moments while creating a safe space for Black and queer individuals to express themselves without judgment or fear. That initiative reflects the heart of Racq’s work because it is not only about producing content. It is about opening space. It is about allowing people to be honest, seen, and held in environments where their stories matter. Through “TASTE” and “Open the Damn Door,” Racq is building work that feels cinematic, personal, and community-centered.

Looking toward the future, Racq’s goals continue to expand as new milestones are reached. Rather than limiting the journey to one fixed destination, Racq is allowing God to guide the path while staying focused on creating more authentic and original stories. Right now, that focus includes reflecting Black and queer voices throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, while also holding space for the possibility of returning to Philadelphia for a show, film, or music release. That connection between where Racq comes from and where they are building now gives the journey a powerful sense of movement.

Racq Lee is turning film, music, and media into a blueprint for the next generation by refusing to create from only one angle. Their work is layered, intentional, and deeply connected to identity, culture, faith, and community. From childhood dreams in Philadelphia to building stories in the DMV, Racq continues to show what is possible when a creative trusts their voice, protects their vision, and uses every gift as part of a larger purpose.
