The anonymous Western Australian concept artist builds a deeply personal single from longing, solitude, and the belief that music matters most when it makes somebody feel.
D.O.S.E Sound does not want the person behind the project to become the story. There is no interest in building the music around a recognizable face, chasing personal fame, or turning vulnerability into a carefully packaged identity. The idea is much simpler: make something honest, release it into the world, and allow the listener to decide what it means to them. That philosophy sits at the center of “someone,” an original single released June 9, 2026, and perhaps one of the clearest expressions yet of why this anonymous Western Australian project exists.
“someone” was born from loneliness and the desire for connection, but D.O.S.E Sound deliberately leaves enough emotional space for listeners to bring their own experiences into the song. It may begin with one person’s feelings, yet it is not presented as a story with only one correct interpretation. The artist describes the track as open to the listener’s own point of view, creating a space where memories of relationships, absence, longing, isolation, or someone impossible to forget can all exist within the same piece of music.
The emotional weight behind the recording is not exaggerated for effect. D.O.S.E Sound has admitted to being unable to listen to “someone” because the song “cuts too deep.” That admission says more about the project than a lengthy explanation of the lyrics ever could. There is a difference between writing about an emotion from a safe distance and creating something while still being close enough to the feeling that hearing it again becomes difficult. “someone” belongs to the latter category.
That vulnerability is balanced by a surprisingly meticulous technical process. The track was created entirely using FL Studio on an eight-year-old laptop, an intentionally modest setup compared with the expensive studios and elaborate production environments often associated with contemporary releases. Vocal engineering plays an important role in the finished sound, with D.O.S.E Sound using tools including Melodyne Studio for tuning, iZotope RX for repair work, and Ozone and FabFilter during the mastering process.
The contrast is important. “someone” may come from raw emotion, but D.O.S.E Sound does not treat emotional honesty as an excuse to neglect craftsmanship. Instead, technology becomes a way to support the feeling already present in the song. The production is carefully shaped while the emotional core remains intentionally exposed.
The project itself is still remarkably young. D.O.S.E Sound began releasing music only on New Year’s Eve 2025, although songwriting had been part of the artist’s life since the teenage years. The catalyst was another deeply personal song written about someone on December 31. That person, according to the artist, became the reason D.O.S.E Sound moved from years of private songwriting into actually releasing music.
“Yeah this whole project started cause I wrote a song about someone on the 31 December 2025,” the artist explained. “They are the catalyst to D.O.S.E sound.”
Only six months later, “someone” arrived as another chapter in a creative process that still feels surreal to the person behind it.
Music, however, has been present much longer than the project name. D.O.S.E Sound traces that relationship back to the era of cassette Walkmans and describes listening habits that resist almost any simple genre classification. Spotify Wrapped reportedly reflected 223 different genres in the artist’s listening during 2025 alone. That range offers some insight into why D.O.S.E Sound is better understood as a concept than a conventional genre-specific act. There is no stated need to remain inside one musical category when the emotional purpose of the work matters more than the label attached to it.
Even the anonymity feels connected to that philosophy. There is only one person behind D.O.S.E Sound, and that person prefers to remain unidentified. The decision redirects attention toward the music itself rather than biography, image, or personality. In an industry where an artist’s personal brand can become nearly as important as the songs, D.O.S.E Sound is intentionally moving in the opposite direction.
“It’s not about me, it’s about the music and how it makes you feel.”
That statement may be the clearest description of the project. D.O.S.E Sound is not financially motivated by music and has expressed no interest in personal fame. The goal is simply for the work to be heard and, more importantly, to produce a genuine emotional reaction. Whether that reaction is positive or negative is almost secondary. What matters is that the listener did not leave unaffected.
That makes “someone” particularly revealing. A song the artist can barely revisit is now being handed over to strangers and allowed to become something different in each listener’s mind. The original loneliness remains inside the recording, but ownership of its meaning no longer belongs solely to the person who created it.
For D.O.S.E Sound, that transfer may be the entire point. “someone” does not demand that listeners know the face behind the laptop, understand every detail of the experience, or interpret the music exactly as intended. It simply asks them to feel something. In a project deliberately built around music before identity, that may be the most personal statement D.O.S.E Sound could make.
