Kelly Padrick will film a new music video with director Patricia Chica for her song “Shine” in January 2027 in Montreal. Chica has directed 11 of Padrick’s music videos to date, including the award-winning “Heavenly Ride” and “Waiting For This.”
Padrick is an American indie pop singer-songwriter, originally from Providence, Rhode Island, and currently based in New York City. She has been writing music since she was five years old and has built a long career as an independent artist. Her sound blends pop, folk, new wave, and surf-pop across seven full-length albums and four EPs, including her 2005 debut, Haze, and later albums Carmine Street (2007), Hello My Love (2010), Soulmate (2011), Dear Love (2014), and It’s Only Me (2016), along with EPs The Brooklyn Hours and Fires. Since 2006, she has written much of her music with long-term partner Nancy Hess.
The Montreal shoot for “Shine” follows the release of Padrick’s new 2026 EP, Butterflies, a nostalgic, empowering, and emotionally vulnerable five-track project produced by Marc Copely.
Padrick’s music has also been featured in film and television. Her song “Pizza and Fairytales” appeared in the Fox Searchlight film Trust the Man. “Ties That Bind” and “The Brooklyn Hours” were used by ABC in promotional commercials for Desperate Housewives, and “Believing Makes it So” and “Consciousness” were featured on HBO’s VICE, with her music also appearing on MTV’s Big Tips Texas.
