Emerging from South Africa with a vision that blends music, fashion, and self-expression, Caillym Ganesh—known artistically as Cbg—is part of a new generation redefining what it means to be a creative. As both a model and indie music artist, his journey is rooted in experimentation, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to becoming his own version of success.
Like many stories shaped during uncertain times, Cbg’s creative journey began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. At just a Grade 10 student, what started as a way to pass time quickly became something much deeper. With only short breaks in between online classes, he would rush to find beats, record vocals, mix tracks, and release music—all within the same day. That urgency, that hunger to create, laid the foundation for the artist he is becoming today. It wasn’t about perfection—it was about expression, learning, and momentum.
At the same time, another creative lane began to take shape—fashion. After receiving a collection of clothes from his sister’s boyfriend, what might have been simple hand-me-downs became something transformative. For Cbg, it felt like discovering a new language. He began experimenting, researching, and developing his style piece by piece. Not every look worked, and not every attempt was perfect—but through trial and error, he found his identity. That willingness to explore and evolve continues to define both his fashion and music today.
His musical influences trace back to childhood—artists like Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Nelly, Backstreet Boys, and Westlife filled the soundtrack of his early life. Those car rides with his dad introduced him to catchy melodies, rhythm, and performance energy that would later shape his own sound. Today, that influence shows up in the way he approaches music—not confined to one genre, but fluid, adaptable, and driven by feeling. His sound is constantly evolving, reflecting the different moods, styles, and inspirations he experiences.
In fashion, his aesthetic leans toward global influence, drawing inspiration from K-pop culture, creators like trxntin, and visual platforms like Pinterest. It’s a style that feels modern, expressive, and curated—yet still personal. Much like his music, it doesn’t stay in one place. It shifts, adapts, and grows alongside him.
But with growth comes challenge. As both an artist and a model, Cbg has faced criticism—often from people who don’t fully understand the vulnerability it takes to put yourself online. Whether it’s opinions about his appearance, his voice, or his music, negativity has been part of the journey. Yet instead of letting it define him, he’s learned to move through it. To take the hits, learn from them when necessary, and keep pushing forward regardless.
And that persistence is already paying off.
This year alone has marked several milestones—signing his first modeling contract, reaching 1,000 streams on his debut album, and being featured in FOSACS Digital Magazine. Perhaps most exciting is the realization that his audience is growing globally, reaching listeners and supporters in places he never imagined. It’s proof that his work is connecting, even beyond borders.

At the heart of everything Cbg creates is a simple but powerful message: be yourself. In an industry—and a world—that often encourages conformity, he stands firm in individuality. He understands that while the idea may sound cliché, the reality is far more difficult—and far more important. Breaking norms, standing out, and embracing who you are is not easy, but it’s necessary.
What continues to fuel him is the connection with his audience. Moments like receiving a message from a fan expressing genuine excitement over his music remind him why he started. It’s those interactions—the real, human responses—that give his work meaning beyond numbers.
Currently, Cbg is entering a new phase of his artistry with the release of his upcoming EP, ISPB, dropping May 12th. The project represents a shift—a new era in his sound. While it introduces something fresh and different, it still carries elements of nostalgia, blending the past and present into something uniquely his own. It’s not just another release—it’s a statement of growth.
Looking ahead, his ambitions are bold and unapologetic. He envisions sold-out shows, performing under bright lights, and building a name that resonates not just in music, but across fashion and media. For Cbg, success isn’t limited to one lane—it’s about becoming a brand, a presence, and a household name. And while the vision is ambitious, it’s matched by belief.
Cbg is still early in his journey, but the foundation is already strong—creativity, adaptability, and confidence. And as he continues to evolve, one thing is clear:
He’s not just chasing a moment—he’s building a future.
