Geelong pop-rock artist Lana Karlay returns with “Think It Through,” a driving new single that captures the complicated moment when concern, frustration and buried emotions finally turn into confrontation. Honest, energetic and unapologetically direct, the track transforms emotional overthinking into the kind of cathartic release made for late-night replays, open roads and full-volume car speakers.
At its heart, “Think It Through” explores the helplessness of watching someone you care about remain in a relationship that no longer serves them. Lana places herself directly inside that emotional tension, balancing the desire to protect someone with the difficult realization that her own feelings may run deeper than she wants to admit. Instead of softening those emotions, she leans fully into their messiness, creating a song that feels immediate, relatable and powerfully human.
“It feels frustrating, messy and a bit chaotic, that feeling of wanting to shake them and say, ‘Wake up, you deserve better,’” Lana explains. “At the same time, there’s that selfish emotional side too, because you care more than you probably should. It’s direct, unforgiving and very much a scream-it-in-the-car kind of song.”
That emotional honesty becomes the song’s greatest strength. “Think It Through” does not attempt to present love, loyalty or concern as simple feelings. Instead, Lana captures the uncomfortable mixture of anger, protectiveness, jealousy and helplessness that can surface when someone important continues shrinking themselves for the wrong person. Her performance carries both urgency and restraint, allowing the frustration beneath the lyrics to build naturally before exploding into a memorable pop-rock release.
The story behind the record is equally significant. Lana wrote “Think It Through” during her final year of high school while visiting Los Angeles on a 17-day school-holiday trip. She arrived in the city with one clear goal: to write as much music as possible and use the experience to continue developing her sound, confidence and songwriting abilities.
During the trip, Lana connected with Mason and Julez, a young Australian brother duo now based in Los Angeles. The chemistry between the collaborators was immediate, and the foundation of “Think It Through” came together much faster than expected.
“This song came together incredibly quickly,” Lana says. “It was one of those sessions where everything just clicked. By the end of the day, we all kind of looked at each other and knew we had something really special.”
That creative momentum can be heard throughout the finished track. The production moves with purpose, matching the emotional urgency of the lyrics without overpowering Lana’s performance. Every element works toward the same goal: capturing the moment when thoughts that have been building internally can no longer remain unspoken.
Helping elevate the song’s final sound was mixing and mastering heavyweight Mark Parfitt, whose credits include work connected to major artists such as Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor and Kehlani. His involvement gives the track additional sonic weight and polish, taking “Think It Through” to new heights while preserving the emotional rawness that makes the song feel personal.

Even with an accomplished team surrounding the release, Lana’s voice remains the defining anchor of the record. Her vocals carry the tension, attitude and vulnerability needed to make the song’s message believable. She does not simply perform the frustration described in the lyrics; she sounds as though she is experiencing every emotion in real time.
That ability to communicate complicated feelings through an accessible pop-rock sound is becoming an important part of Lana Karlay’s artistic identity. “Think It Through” follows a consistent run of releases that began last August, with Lana continuing to shape a larger body of work while discovering where she fits within the broader pop-rock landscape.
Rather than placing herself inside one restrictive musical category, Lana is allowing each new release to become part of her development. She is building a catalogue, sharpening her songwriting and experimenting with the different emotions and sounds that inspire her.
“If it were up to me, I’d probably release a song every day,” she says. “This is actually my eighth release since August last year, but honestly, there are so many more songs sitting unreleased, half-finished or still in demo form. Right now, I’m really focused on building my demos and catalogue, improving my songwriting and continuing to learn as much as possible.”
Her approach reflects the mindset of an artist who understands that consistency and growth often work together. While eight releases in a relatively short period demonstrate her ambition, Lana is not simply focused on putting out as much music as possible. She is also using each studio session, collaboration and unfinished demo as an opportunity to strengthen her creative instincts.
“Think It Through” represents another meaningful step in that process. The track is polished enough to feel ready for a wide pop-rock audience, yet emotionally unfiltered enough to preserve Lana’s individuality. It captures a specific relationship dynamic while leaving enough space for listeners to connect it to their own experiences.
For anyone who has watched someone they love accept less than they deserve, the song will likely feel familiar. It speaks to the difficult position of standing nearby, wanting to intervene and knowing that the final decision does not belong to you. It also acknowledges the feelings people do not always admit—the hope that the other person will finally see what you see and perhaps recognize who has been there all along.
With “Think It Through,” Lana Karlay turns that emotional conflict into a bold pop-rock statement. It is frustrated, messy, honest and built to be shouted back. More importantly, it introduces another side of a young artist who is steadily strengthening her catalogue and refusing to limit what her sound can become.
