If you haven’t heard the name yet, you will. Pop$ X4 isn’t asking for your attention. He’s earning it — beat by beat, bar by bar, from a studio in Montalvin Manor to a lane he’s carving entirely for himself.
On Origin: “Hungry to Create Something of My Own”
Ask Pop$ X4 where the music comes from and he won’t give you one answer. “My music comes from my experiences, my environment, the people around me, and everything I’ve had to overcome,” he says. That’s the fuel. The mission is clearer: “I’m focused on building my own sound and my own lane instead of trying to be somebody else.”
For Pop$ X4, authenticity isn’t a buzzword. It’s the whole blueprint.
On the Name: “Giving People a Reason to Remember It”
Pop$ X4 knows a name has weight. “There’s meaning behind the name, but more than anything, I wanted something people would remember,” he explains. “I wanted a name that stood out when you saw it or heard it.” Now, every track, every verse, every show is about living up to it. “Now I’m putting my music behind that name and giving people a reason to remember it.”
On the Process: “Catch the Feeling and Just Go”
Studio sessions with Pop$ X4 aren’t about formulas. They’re about energy. “I just need the right energy. I like being comfortable, focused, and around people who understand the vision,” he says. From there, it’s instinct. “Once I hear a beat that really speaks to me, I start building from there. Sometimes the best songs happen when you don’t overthink them — you catch the feeling and just go.”
On the Moment It Clicked: “Bigger Than Just You”
Every artist has that moment when it stops being a hobby and starts being a calling. For Pop$ X4, it was the fans. “It was when people started coming back to me and quoting my music or telling me what a certain song meant to them. That’s when it really hit me,” he recalls. “You make music because you have something inside you that you want to get out, but when somebody else connects with it, that’s when you realize it’s bigger than just you.”
On the Goal: “Take a Ride Through My World”
So what should you feel when you press play on a Pop$ X4 track? “I want them to feel like they just took a ride through my world,” he says. “I want them to hear the confidence, the struggle, the ambition, the highs and the lows. By the end, I want somebody to feel like they actually know Pop$ X4 a little better. And if they finish it and immediately want to run it back, then I did my job.”
On the Start: Age 14 in the Studio
The story starts early. “My earliest memory of making music goes back to being around my homie, who used to have a studio,” Pop$ X4 says. “We would always make songs here and there when we were young, starting when I was about 14.” Those freestyle sessions weren’t just messing around. “That’s where I first got comfortable recording and expressing myself through music. Looking back, those sessions were the beginning of me realizing that music could become something bigger for me.”
On Finding His Voice: “I Want to Create My Own”
He grew up a student of the game. “I started paying attention to how different artists told stories, how they delivered their lyrics, and how a beat could completely change the feeling of a song,” he explains. The shift came when listening turned into doing. “Eventually I stopped just listening and started thinking, ‘I want to create my own.’”
On Influences: From GB to Dirty Mob
The early influences were local and direct. “When I was starting out, I was listening to a lot of GB and Rico 2 Smoove. Their music influenced me and made me want to pick up a pen, develop my own style, and take recording more seriously.” Now, he’s surrounded by inspiration. “Now, I’m inspired by artist from Dirty Mob Entertainment — that’s the label I’m part of. Shoutout to Thuggy,” he adds. But it doesn’t stop at music. “I’m also inspired by life itself — people around me, experiences, situations, and watching other independent artists build something from nothing. At this point, I’m taking inspiration from everywhere and turning it into my own sound.”
On the Hardest Part: “Try Again Tomorrow”
The grind isn’t glamorous. “Probably staying consistent when you don’t see the results as quickly as you want,” he admits. “As an artist, you have to believe in yourself before everybody else does.” That belief became a mantra: Try Again Tomorrow. “There are going to be times when you question yourself, but that’s where the mentality behind ‘Try Again Tomorrow’ comes from. You can’t let one bad day, one setback, or one person telling you no make you quit.”
On Staying Grounded: “Remembering Why I Started”
With noise all around, Pop$ X4 keeps his focus tight. “The numbers, opinions, attention — all of that can change,” he says. “At the end of the day, I’m still the same person who wanted to make music because I had something to say. I try to stay focused on the music, the people who genuinely support me, and the bigger picture.” Because this isn’t about a viral moment. “I’m not trying to have one moment — I’m trying to build something that lasts and show my people a different way of life.”
