How Newark native Live turned grief into a fashion movement that asks one question: Are you living, or are you existing?

THE ORIGIN

For Live, fashion was never just about fabric. Growing up as an only child in an urban Newark, New Jersey neighborhood, clothing became language. Style was self-expression when words fell short.

But Live Life Clothing, the brand he founded, didn’t start in a studio. It started in loss.

“Growing up, I lost a lot of childhood friends,” Live says. “Watching life continue after losing so many people made me look at life differently. It made me realize just how short life really is. Tomorrow isn’t promised.”

That realization became the brand’s heartbeat: There’s a difference between living and simply existing.

THE PHILOSOPHY

The message is stitched into every piece. Even the LL logo carries weight. To Live, it stands for three stages: Learn Life. Live Life. Love Life.

“I feel like there are so many people walking around simply existing instead of actually living,” he explains. “They’re going through the motions, but not truly embracing life. I want to remind people that there’s more to life than just waking up, going to work, and repeating the same routine. You have to chase your dreams, experience new things, take chances, and enjoy the journey.”

That’s why he calls Live Life Clothing a lifestyle, not a label. “Clothing is a form of self-expression. I want my brand to give people the confidence to be themselves without limitations. Whether you’re feeling motivated, confident, creative, or simply enjoying life, I want Live Life to represent that feeling.”

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Live’s best ideas don’t come in boardrooms. They come in stillness.

“Some of my best ideas, thoughts, and projects come to me when I’m sitting in peace and quiet, meditating, and allowing my mind to be free,” he says. “There’s something powerful about removing yourself from the noise and distractions of everyday life and just giving yourself time to think. That’s when my creativity really comes alive.”

Other times, inspiration hits at mile two. “Believe it or not, some of my best ideas come to me when I’m out running,” he laughs. “I enjoy going on three-mile runs. Working out does more for me than just keeping me physically fit. It’s also a way for me to clear my mind, think creatively, and develop new ideas.”

From that mental clarity comes execution. And Live thrives in both calm and chaos. “Working with unlimited time and working under pressure are two very different experiences, but both have their advantages. With unlimited time, you can slow down and examine every detail. However, I’m also a firm believer that pressure makes diamonds. Sometimes, when you’re working against the clock, it forces you to think differently and find solutions you might not have considered otherwise.”

THE STANDARD

Every Live Life piece goes through a mental gauntlet before it hits the market. Design. Fabric. Quality. Fit. Feel. “I try to look at it from every possible angle,” Live says. “I think about the different ways it can succeed, but I also consider the ways it could potentially fail.”

But product is only half the battle. “You can have an amazing product with great quality and incredible design, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s going to sell. You have to know how to position the product, create demand, capture people’s attention, and make them want to own it.”

And the most important filter is personal. “If you don’t genuinely love an idea, nine times out of ten, it’s probably not going to work the way you envision it. You have to believe in what you’re creating before you can expect anyone else to believe in it.”

THE IMPACT

For Live, the reward isn’t just sales. It’s stories. Like the man who told him a Live Life belt changed his life.

“He explained that he wore the belt to a job interview and ended up getting hired on the spot,” Live recalls. “Ever since then, he considers it his good-luck belt. He told me that whenever he wears it, something good seems to happen.”

Moments like that re-center him. “When you’re running a business, you don’t always get to see the impact your products have on people. Sometimes you’re so focused on sales and developing the next product that you forget about the personal connections you’re creating along the way.”

THE FUTURE

One thing Live promises: stagnation is not in the brand’s vocabulary.

“Live Life Clothing will never become stagnant. It will always evolve, grow, and find new ways to express itself,” he says. “Fashion is constantly changing. Trends come and go. As a brand, you have to be willing to adapt with the times while still staying true to your identity. I never want to put Live Life in a box or limit what it can become.”

Because for Live, watching an idea go from mind to market is the ultimate high. “There’s nothing more rewarding than watching something that started from ground zero eventually reach the sky. Taking an idea that once existed only in your mind and turning it into something real is an amazing feeling.”

THE QUESTION

So he leaves readers with the same challenge he gives his customers:

“Are you living, or are you existing? Life is too short to spend it wondering what could have been. Do the things you’ve always wanted to do. Take chances. Step outside your comfort zone. Never limit yourself.”

That’s more than a tagline. For Live, and for everyone wearing Live Life Clothing, it’s the mission.
