As Election Day approaches, excitement is building across New York City as the NAACP NYCHA Branch prepares to bring community, culture, music, and civic engagement together through its Connecting the Dots initiative. Spearheaded by Lynn Spivey, President of NAACP NYCHA, the “Flip Your Ballot” NYCHA Artist Showcase celebrates the voices and creativity of independent artists living in NYCHA developments across the five boroughs. The initiative highlights the importance of voter registration, civic awareness, and community participation while providing emerging artists with a platform to showcase their talents and connect with music industry professionals.
At the heart of the initiative is a $500 grand prize for a NYCHA artist who demonstrates a commitment to promoting voter registration and highlighting the value of civic participation. Through this effort, President Lynn Spivey and the NAACP NYCHA Branch are creating opportunities for artists to use their influence to educate, inspire, and connect with their communities. The “Flip Your Ballot” showcase will take place Monday, November 2, from 6 PM to 10 PM at Vision Cafe Lounge, located at 2835 Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem. With participating artists representing developments throughout New York City, the event promises an evening of music, community connection, and voter awareness ahead of Election Day on November 3. Residents and supporters are encouraged to RSVP and learn more about their voter registration status at amiregistered.vote.nyc, and reserve their spot at the event RSVP page. NAACP NYCHA Communications Chair wants to thank the participating prize sponsors such as DigiWaxxRadio, TheDivaReport, DJ Spynfo from Haus Sankofa, George Ofori from SimplyGeniusEnt, HoodMediaPromoLLC, SlapDemWithLyrics, and WonWorldStudios.
